Short Biography

WANG Yong (王勇) was born in Hunan Province, China. Currently, he is a Ph.D candidate at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) under the supervision of Professor Qu Huamin. Before that, he received his bachelor degree from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) majoring in Automation in 2011, and received his master degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) majoring in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System in 2014.

His research interests include Information Visualization, Graph Visualization, Visual Analytics and Image Processing. Recently, he is mainly focusing on graph visualization and its analysis.


  • June. 2016: Be working as a research intern in IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center from June to December, 2016.
  • Oct. 2015: Present AmbiguityVis in IEEE VIS 2015 at Chicago and worked as a student volunteer.
  • Aug. 2015: Become an IEEE member.
  • July 2015: Our paper "AmbiguityVis: Visualization of Ambiguity in Graph Layouts" is accepted by IEEE InfoVis 2015!
